Caution: Widow Unloosed

What Is Rita Up to Now?

Well... I’m Still Here. Now What?

I spent 52 years being part of an “us.” Then suddenly, I had to figure out who Rita was on her own. I’m still figuring it out.

This is where I’ll share what happens next—the adventures, the ridiculous moments, the hard days, the things I’m learning, the art, the people I meet, and probably a few things I should have had better sense than to do.

Grief is part of my story. But it doesn’t get to write the rest of it.

So, follow along- you don't want to miss what may happen next!

Apparently, I Have a Blog Now.

I wasn’t planning to become a blogger at 71. Then again, I wasn’t planning to become a widow either. Life apparently quit consulting me about the schedule.

So here I am.

I’ve spent the past few months learning that surviving the loss of the person you loved for 52 years is one thing. Figuring out what to do with the life still sitting in front of you is something else entirely.

I’m not interested in spending the rest of my life sitting quietly in a corner waiting to get old. I have places I haven’t seen, paintings I haven’t painted, people I haven’t met, things I still want to learn, and apparently enough opinions to start a blog.

Some days will still hurt. Some days I may surprise myself. And some days I may get into something I have absolutely no business getting into.

Those are probably the days you’ll want to read about.

Come Along With Me

I don’t know exactly where this next chapter is going either. That’s half the fun. If you’re rebuilding a life you didn’t expect to be living, maybe we can figure some of it out together.
